The Benefits Of Self-Employment

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

There are many benefits of self-employment and working from home. However, it is not for everybody. If you are the type of person who likes to rise up to the sound of an alarm clock each morning, get in your car and drive 15 to 20 minutes to your office every day of the week to commence your workday listening to demands from your boss, it follows that self-employment is probably not for you.

Being self-employed allows you to leave your occupation and work for yourself. When starting out, many self-employed persons operate part time from their homes to supplement their jobs. As soon as they become profitable enough, then they give up their jobs and work their venture full time.

Being self-employed allows you to be in control of your pay check. You can make as much or as little as you want. It all depends on how much effort you put into it. If you want to replace your job within a year, you can start off leisurely as you build your residual earnings, but if you are looking to swap your job inside 6 months or less, then it takes a bit more commitment.

Self-employment allows you to be at home with your relatives. While many other people commute everyday to a job and have to leave their children in a day-care or with a babysitter, you can have your children right by your side when you work. You can take as many breaks as you want to spend time with them or have lunch with them. Many parents grieve for out on this because they have to go to work outside their home everyday.

Being self-employed gives you many tax benefits. It allows you to subtract normal household expenses such as a part of your electricity, a part of your mortgage, your phone and your computer. Any type of marketing material, books or other bits of informational training or anything else you have to invest your money in to grow your business can be deducted.

These are just some of the benefits of self-employment, although there are many others. Basically, when you are self-employed, you have the ability to create your own economic independence. You create your own wealth and design your own life. There is nothing standing in your way and you are free to dream big and turn that daydream into reality.
